In celebration of the iconic film's 50th Anniversary, the long awaited score album is now available for the very first time in any format. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is a 1974 American Independent horror film produced, co-composed, and directed by Tobe Hooper, who co-wrote it with Kim Henkel. The plot follows a group of friends who fall victim to a family of cannibals while on their way to visit an old homestead. Over the 50 years since its release, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre has become widely regarded as one of the best and most influential horror films ever made.

The film's original score by Tobe Hooper and Wayne Bell is an experimental exercise in music composing and performance that utilizes non-traditional instruments such as suspended cymbals, aluminum saucepans, a children's toy percussion set, various wildlife calls, whistles, shakers, and more. The result is one of the earliest examples of industrial music and has since become known as the "holy grail" of film scores due to its status of being either lost or destroyed. As such, Hooper and Bell's innovative score has become highly sought after, spawning countless bootlegs and attempts to re-create it for commercial gain. Waxwork Records' release of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre by Tobe Hooper and Wayne Bell marks the first time the official score will be made available anywhere.

In 2023, the original film score master tapes were discovered and then privately held at the Harry Ransom Center in Austin, TX for preservation. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre's co-composer Wayne Bell painstakingly worked to have these original source material master tapes safely transferred. Bell then personally worked to construct and mix the newly transferred official Texas Chain Saw Massacre score for a cohesive listening experience. The score was then mastered by Thomas Dimuzio at Gench Mastering.

Jeffrey Combs and Barbara Crampton star as John and Susan Reilly, and Jessica Dollarhide as their blind daughter Rebecca. After visiting John’s newly inherited 12th-century castle, the family soon realizes that they are not alone amongst the medieval stone walls. Chained up in the dungeons is Giorgio, the hideously disfigured son of the castle’s former owner. When Giorgio escapes and wreaks havoc upon the unsuspecting Reillys, the family is brought to their breaking points.

Richard Band is an award-winning American composer who has written the music for over 100 feature films, television series, and more. His score for Castle Freak features the innovative use of a string quartet in the film’s prologue, bringing a classical flair to his tense and terrifying score.

With a highly anticipated live-action motion picture released in 1990, TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES proved to be the biggest pop-culture property in the world for the time. Lifted from the pages of the popular comic series, a wildly successful Saturday morning cartoon, and a massive hit-line of toy action figures, the motion picture adaptation of the beloved crime fighting turtles brought the franchise to the next level.

The gritty and dark NYC martial-arts-superhero-comedy featured the four cherished ninja turtles with a slew of other idolized characters such as Master Splinter, Shredder, Casey Jones, April O’Neil, and The Foot. Interstellar is a 2014 science fiction film directed by Christopher Nolan. The film score is composed by Hans Zimmer, who previously scored Nolan's Batman film trilogy and Inception. Tremendously popular several years after its initial release, the Interstellar: Expanded Edition features music from the film by Zimmer, and is available as a deluxe 4xLP with a special etching. The Expanded Edition features additional music that was not available on the standard CD and digital releases of the original soundtrack.

The 2014 epic science fiction film Interstellar was directed by Christopher Nolan and starred Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain and Michael Caine. The film depicts a crew of astronauts forced to travel through a wormhole in search of a new home for humankind after the Earth regresses into a failing agrarian society after a blight infects the crops.

Waxwork Records is thrilled to release PHANTASM Original Motion Picture Score by Fred Myrow and Malcolm Seagrave. In celebration of the iconic Horror film's 45th Anniversary, this special triple LP features the complete score sourced from the original 1979 master tapes for the first time in any format, a full LP of never before released cues from the Phantasm score recordings sessions, and the newly re-mastered original 1979 score album.

Directed by Don Coscarelli, Phantasm has become a horror classic due to its surreal and unconventional storytelling. Filming on weekends over the span of a year, and working with a budget of only $300,000, Coscarelli and his crew created a bizarre, gorey, and entirely original horror film. Some of the most famous aspects of the film, like the floating silver orb, come directly from Coscarelli’s dreams, which give the film an even more ethereal feel.

Composers Fred Myrow and Malcolm Seagrave were inspired by the horror scores of Goblin (Suspiria) and Mike Oldfield (The Exorcist) to create the haunting sounds of Phantasm. Myrow and Seagrave were working with synthesizers in the early days of the instrument. Says Coscarelli, “The synthesizers we used back then were so primitive that you couldn't repeat something; you would program the synthesizer, which means setting all of these dials to create a sound, and you went back and tried to get it again and forget it - it was impossible.”

"I recently received notice that our long-term film storage vault in the basement of the historic Howard Hughes Headquarters building on the corner of Romaine and Sycamore in Hollywood was being permanently closed. During the process of moving out our negative materials, I came across the original three reels of Ampex 456 analog tape used in the Phantasm score recording sessions. Listening now to the score, including the outtake tracks, I am impressed with how inventive and adventurous Fred and Malcolm were in their approach to scoring Phantasm."

About the composer:

Emmy Award winning composer Brandon Roberts’ music can be heard all over the scoring world today. From the Academy Award winning documentary Free Solo, to the pulsing action of World War Z and Logan, to the surreal reimagining of Jordan Peele’s Twilight Zone and the horror of Eli Roth’s Thanksgiving.

Upon graduating from the USC Scoring for Motion Pictures & Television program, Brandon began composing for films, television and albums in a wide range of styles. Projects include such large-scale feature films as A Quiet Place (I and II), Logan, Chaos Walking, and World War Z. In addition, he has composed for several independent features including: The Woman In Black (I and II), Warm Bodies, The Giver, and Unbroken: Path To Redemption. 

Brandon’s music can be found in acclaimed television shows as well, including the popular summer Netflix horror trilogy, Fear Street, which featured a co-score with Marco Beltrami (Fear Street: Part 2) as well as additional music in Pt1 and Pt3. Waxwork Records is thrilled to present GODZILLA 70th Anniversary Original Motion Picture Soundtrack by composer Akira Ifukube. Released in 1954 by director Ishirô Honda, Godzilla holds the record for being the longest-running franchise in film history. Waxwork Records worked closely with Toho to create this deluxe 70th Anniversary release, featuring a re-mastered score and all-new art.

When ships begin to go missing near Odo Island off the coast of Japan, the locals look to the government for help. Paleontologist Kyohei Yamane (Takashi Shimura) is sent to investigate the situation. There, he discovers the horrors of Godzilla, who soon begins attacking the Japanese mainland. As the military’s efforts to destroy the monster continuously fail, scientist Daisuke Serizawa (Akihiko Hirata) is called upon to use his “Oxygen Destroyer” to kill the beast. Finding Godzilla in Tokyo Bay, Serzawa’s machine is used and finally, the beast is felled.

Since its release, Godzilla has continued to terrorize audiences around the world. The film has influenced countless filmmakers, with both Akira Kurosawa and Steven Speilberg citing it as one of their favorite films. The genius use of practical special effects and miniatures changed how the Japanese film industry made movies for decades. Godzilla has spawned over thirty sequel films and countless video games, comic books, toys, TV shows, and more becoming a pop culture phenomenon in the process.

The film’s score by Akira Ifukube has become an instantly recognizable piece of film music. Given only the script and a week in which to compose, Ifukube crafted a score that feels as enormous as the kaiju himself. Godzilla’s theme has become a staple of nearly all subsequent Godzilla films and was considered by Ifukube to be the greatest piece of music he had written. Using low-pitched brass and string instruments, Ifukube gives the score a massiveness and weight that complement the terror and destruction brought about by the rampaging monster. Ifukube also used a deeply resonant stringed instrument to create Godzilla’s iconic roar, a trick used to create the roar throughout the franchise.

THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN is a 1935 horror movie directed by James Whale and starring Boris Karloff & Elsa Lanchester. It is the first sequel to the 1931 film FRANKENSTEIN, and widely regarded as one of the greatest sequels in cinematic history. The film has been praised as Whale’s masterpiece. In 1998, it was selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the United States National Film Registry, having been deemed “culturally, historically or aesthetically significant”.

Sourced from the original master acetates housed in the composer’s archives at Syracuse University and original masters from Universal, the soundtrack album has been meticulously restored and re-mastered. Working closely with Universal Pictures, this historic release marks the very first time the original film music by has been made available on vinyl. The album features new artwork by Phantom City Creative, a 12”x12” booklet including artwork and original scoring session photography, and liner notes by album producer and restoration engineer Mike Matessino.

Written, filmed, and released in 1968 by a rag tag group of Pittsburgh based misfits, NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD is an American independent horror film that follows the story of seven people trapped in a rural farmhouse that is besieged by a large and growing group of living dead ghouls. The film is regarded as a cult classic by critics, film scholars, and fans and has garnered critical acclaim. The film has been selected by the Library Of Congress for preservation in the National Film Registry and is deemed “culturally, historically, and aesthetically significant”.

Filmed and released on a shoestring budget, NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD became a smashing success earning over 250 times its budget. The film is a first of its kind and ushered in a new way of writing, directing, and filming horror films. The overused script of romantic, fantastical tales of otherworldly monsters and creatures was completely flipped and tossed aside by visionary George A. Romero. As the film’s writer and director, Romero created a new, obvious threat, and one that is universally recognizable - Our very own neighbors. Due to an unseen force beyond man’s control, the recently deceased arise from the dead in seek of living human victims. These ghouls kill and feast upon the flesh of their victims, and the only way of stopping them is by destroying their brains.

From 2015 to 2018, Waxwork Records worked closely with the remaining members of the independent production company that made NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, Image Ten, in an effort to produce a definitive soundtrack album featuring all music from the film. Much of the film’s music was thought to be lost or destroyed, but was located in its entirety and faithfully restored and re-mastered for vinyl.

ROB is a musician, author, singer, composer, and producer. Known for his unique electronic compositions including 2012's MANIAC, HORNS, REVENGE, and GRETEL & HANSEL, ROB's career continues to grow in cinema, series, and documentaries with more than 40 original scores composed.

In partnership with Back Lot Music, Waxwork Records is thrilled to release THE WILD ROBOT Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Music by Kris Bowers. The Wild Robot is a 2024 DreamWorks animated feature film based on the book series of the same name by Peter Brown. It stars Lupita Nyong'o as Roz, the title character, alongside an ensemble voice cast including Pedro Pascal, Mark Hamill, Catherine O'Hara, and Ving Rhames.

The epic adventure follows the journey of a robot, Roz, that is shipwrecked on an uninhabited island and must learn to adapt to the harsh surroundings, gradually building relationships with the animals on the island and becoming the adoptive parent of an orphaned gosling.

In The Wild Robot, the synergy between music and narrative achieves unparalleled heights under the craftsmanship of Oscar^® winning composer Kris Bowers.

Bowers’ creative process on The Wild Robot began with early conversations with director Chris Sanders. “We spoke about the relationships and emotional themes in this story and how music might help underline and enrich the narrative,” Bowers says.

“Our conversations about parenthood, the complex dynamic between Brightbill and Roz, and Roz’s dedication to kindness as a survival mechanism, generated a clear and visceral emotional response within me, and so much of my composition process was trying to recreate the same emotional sensations. The process of composing those main themes for the score to represent the emotional landscape involved a bit of trial and error and back and forth, but once we had those themes and the palette for the score, I was able to just follow the emotional journey the story was taking me on as a viewer and respond to it with music.”

The soundtrack also features two songs performed by Maren Morris titled Kiss The Sky and Even When I'm Not.

Waxwork Records is thrilled to release THE SUBSTANCE Original Motion Picture Score by Raffertie. The Substance is a 2024 body horror film written and directed Coralie Fargeat. The film stars Demi Moore, Margaret Qualley, and Dennis Quaid. Its plot follows a fading celebrity who decides to use a black market drug, a cell-replicating substance that temporarily creates a younger, better version of herself, unknowingly giving her horrifying side effects.

The Substance was selected to compete for the Palme d'Or at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival where it received a 13 minute standing ovation.

Benjamin Stefanski, best known by his recording alias Raffertie, is a British composer and producer. A classically trained multi-instrumentalist, he studied Classical & Contemporary Music Composition at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. He received initial acclaim for his experimental electronic recordings. His electronic dexterity and classic songwriting sensibility have seen him become known and sought out for the enigmatic, emotive sound he has developed throughout his work as a composer scoring for film and television.

Waxwork Records is thrilled to present CARRIE Original Motion Picture Soundtrack by Pino Donaggio! Expanded and re-mastered, this deluxe double LP album marks the very first time that the complete film music has been released on vinyl. Carrie is a 1976 Horror film adapted from author Stephen King's very first published novel of the same name. The movie stars Sissy Spacek and is directed by Brian De Palma (Scarface, Phantom Of The Paradise). 

The score by legendary composer Pino Donaggio (The Howling, Tourist Trap) skillfully captures the pressure of forced innocence, the humor of teen drama, and the trauma of coming of age as a girl in 1970’s America. The album also features the tracks “Born To Have It All” and “I Never Thought Someone Like You Could Love Someone Like Me” by Katie Irving.

After years of suppressed rage, Kid discovers a way to infiltrate the enclave of the city's sinister elite. Barbarian is a 2022 American Horror film written and directed by Zach Cregger in his solo screen writing and directorial debut. Anna Drubich is an award-winning film composer from Moscow. Anna has score over 35 major film and TV projects including a co-score with Oscar-nominated composer Marco Beltrami on the Guillermo Del Toro adaptation of Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark, Netflix's hit feature Fear Street: 1994, the horror-comedy Werewolves Within, and more.

The Last Man On Earth is a 1964 post-apocalyptic science fiction horror film based on the 1954 novel I Am Legend by Richard Matheson. Starring Vincent Price, the plot follows Dr. Robert Morgan (Price) who lives in a world where the human population is infected by a plague that has turned them into undead, vampiric creatures that cannot stand sunlight, fear mirrors, and are repelled by garlic. Every day, Morgan follows a routine where he marks days off the calender and sets out to hunt the vampires, killing as many as he can and then burning the bodies.

After working together on the successful release of the official soundtracks to Zombie’s films House of 1000 Corpses, The Devils Rejects, 3 From Hell, The Lords of Salem, Halloween 1 & 2, and The Munsters, Zombie explored other ways to collaborate with Waxwork in an effort to unearth, re-master, and release classic, left-of-center Horror soundtracks from films that he is a life-long fan of. SLEEPY HOLLOW is a 1999 gothic supernatural horror film directed by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp, Christina Ricci, and Christopher Walken. It is based loosely on Washington Irving’s 1820 short story “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”. The plot follows police constable Ichabod Crane (Depp) sent from New York City to investigate a series of murders in the village of Sleepy Hollow by a mysterious Headless Horseman.

Danny Elfman is an award winning American film composer, singer, and songwriter. He has garnered international recognition for composing over 100 feature film scores. Elfman is a longtime collaborator of director Tim Burton having scored such films as Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, and The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Sleepy Hollow stands as one of Elfman’s largest orchestral scores and utilizes weighty brass, eerie choral pieces, and unnerving strings. His use of romantic themes cut a calming tone throughout the dark and mysterious gothic-fairy-tale.

In partnership with Milan Records, Waxwork Records is proud to release KINDS OF KINDNESS (ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK) with music by multi-instrumentalist, producer, and Oscar®-nominated composer JERSKIN FENDRIX. The album reunites Fendrix with director Yorgos Lanthimos following the breakout success of Poor Things, which earned the first-time composer an Oscar® nomination and marked Lanthimos’ first-ever collaboration with a composer. For Kinds of Kindness, Fendrix has crafted a soundscape rooted in solo piano and choral music, peppering the 22-track collection with hymnals throughout. Rounding out the soundtrack album are pop tracks like Cobrah’s “Brand New Bitch” and Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This),” both of which were featured in the film’s trailers, plus a cover of “How Deep Is Your Love” by film star Margaret Qualley as well as a demo from Fendrix’s personal discography. Searchlight Pictures’ Kinds of Kindness is available in theaters now.

Similar to Poor Things, Fendrix began working on Kinds of Kindness with relatively few materials, utilizing only the film’s script, black and white photographs from set, and conversations with Lanthimos as a guide. This time around, however, Lanthimos provided Fendrix with specific guidance on instrumentation, instructing the composer to craft a soundscape rooted in piano and choral music.

“I love working with Jerskin, and I guess he’s the reason why I am now working with a composer – I’ve found someone that works for me,” says director Yorgos Lanthimos, continuing, “Jerskin worked on this in the same way he worked on Poor Things, which is before even seeing a frame of the film. I gave him the script and started sending him black and white pictures that I shot on set. Our agreement in the beginning was, ‘This time, I want to use piano and choir, and go down that direction,’ which was very different to Poor Things. When I went into the edit, he had this library of music that he created to work with, and it turned out great.”

Also helpful to Fendrix at the start of the project was a conversation with Kinds of Kindness star Jesse Plemons, who helped the composer wrap his mind around the complexity of Lanthimos’ triptych story.

“I was very lucky to go on set at the very beginning of filming, and I asked Jesse about the emotions because I was struggling to understand where so many of these characters were coming from,” composer Jerskin Fendrix confesses. “He spoke to me about his interpretation, and how he planned to embody his characters, which was great. I ended up thinking about the abstract space between the emotions and whether that space was empty or noisy. From there, I utilized the piano and choir to explore those spaces.”

Waxwork Records is thrilled to release KINDS OF KINDNESS as a picture disc featuring artwork and design by Vasilis Marmatakis housed in a crystal clear poly-bag.

KINDS OF KINDNESS is a triptych fable, following a man without choice who tries to take control of his own life; a policeman who is alarmed that his wife who was missing-at-sea has returned and seems a different person; and a woman determined to find a specific someone with a special ability, who is destined to become a prodigious spiritual leader.
