Poor Things Makes Its Debut
Academy Award winner Emma Stone re-teams with Greek director, and arthouse film extraordinaire, Yargos Lanthimos in one of the most bizarre and highly anticipated films of the year. Written by Tony Gilroy (The Favourite, Hulu's The Great), Poor Things tells the Frankenstein-esque story of Bella Baxter, a young girl brought back to life by scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe), as she rediscovers her life and body. It also stars Mark Ruffalo and Ramy Youssef, a fantastic duo that's bound to make anyone laugh.
As Bella begins to learn about the wider world, she and lawyer Duncan Wedderburn (Ruffalo) travel across Europe to discover new places, pleasures, and freedoms. The lavish costumes and set pieces make this Victorian-futuristic world bright and unexpected.
Lanthimos once again brings his patented weirdness to the movie. Much like his past outings The Favourite, The Lobster, and Dogtooth, Poor Things is full of wry humor and cinematic oddities. Cinematographer Robbie Ryan uses off-kilter angles to beautifully show off this off-kilter world. The score by first time film composer Jerskin Fendrix, is also full of the unexpected; high strings, warbled guitars, and preternatural sounds.
Waxwork Records is thrilled to release POOR THINGS Original Motion Picture Score as a deluxe vinyl album featuring the complete film music by composer Jerskin Fendrix with package design by Vasilis Marmatakis, 180 gram colored vinyl, heavyweight gatefold packaging, and more!
