On composing the score, Ronson says, “Greta’s Barbie overflows with emotion in a way that inspired us to no end, not just with harmony and melody but also textures, sonics and rhythms. Starring Candace Hilligoss, CARNIVAL OF SOULS is a 1962 American psychological Horror film directed by Herk Harvey. The plot follows a young woman whose life is disturbed after becoming the sole survivor of a car accident. Trying to put the incident behind her, she moves to Utah to take up a job as a church organist. Unable to assimilate with the locals, her life is soon interrupted by visions of a ghoulish stranger. As her visions become more frequent, she finds herself strangely drawn to an abandoned carnival on the outskirts of town. The alluring, deserted carnival may hold the secret to her tragic past.

CARNIVAL OF SOULS features an organ score by Gene Moore. Employing various guerrilla filmmaking techniques and shot on a shoestring budget of only $33,000, CARNIVAL OF SOULS has become a cult classic and has been praised by critics and film scholars for its cinematography and its stark, foreboding atmosphere.

Waxwork worked closely with the owners of the original CARNIVAL OF SOULS film elements which have been restored by and archived in the vaults of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. AMPAS restored the soundtrack from the film's original soundtrack negative, allowing the holders of this historical film to provide Waxwork with the best possible source material. This special release marks the first, official CARNIVAL OF SOULS soundtrack album.

In addition to the original soundtrack, this release features segments of dialogue and sound effects eloquently and tastefully included, all sourced from the restored original soundtrack negative.

After working together on the successful release of the official soundtracks to Zombie’s films House of 1000 Corpses, The Devils Rejects, 3 From Hell, The Lords of Salem, Halloween 1 & 2, and The Munsters, Zombie explored other ways to collaborate with Waxwork in an effort to unearth, re-master, and release classic, left-of-center Horror soundtracks from films that he is a lifelong fan of. Written and directed by Nicolas Pesce, The Eyes Of My Mother is a 2016 black and white horror film that focuses on a young woman, Francisca (Kika Magalhães) who grows up on her family farm where she previously witnessed the murder of her mother. After keeping her mother’s murderer captive for years, and plagued by loneliness after the death of her father, Francisca begins a bizarre chain of actions that include luring victims back to the family farmhouse, dismemberment, kidnapping an infant to raise as her own son, and personally exhuming her mother.

Composed by Ariel Loh, the score to The Eyes Of My Mother is dark, haunting, and atmospheric. Composed entirely on vintage, modded analog synthesizers, the score effectively presents a tune drifting, ghostly, and often beautiful collection of compositions.

Written and directed by Alex Ross Perry and starring Elisabeth Moss and Katherine Waterston, Queen Of Earth is a 2015 American psychological thriller that tells the story of two women who grew up together that spend a week at a lake house retreat, as they did the previous year. This time, however, one of the women’s mood, and possibly her sanity, has been affected by the recent death of her father and the ending of a relationship.

Scored by composer Keegan DeWitt, the beautiful-nightmarish music of Queen Of Earth captures an auditory mental breakdown. By dissonant usage of a 1928 Steinway piano, French horns, echoing clarinets, and a Wrenchenspiel (an instrument made of tuned metal wrenches that are hit with mallets to produce a destabilized xylophone effect), DeWitt successfully creates a terrifying, slowly unraveling score that sonically seizes the descent into madness.

Godzilla Singular Point is a 2022 Anime kaiju series that follows engineer Yun Arikawa and graduate student Mei Kamino as they are drawn together by a mysterious song. Their investigations lead to a fight against forces that may threaten the entire world. Featuring fan favorites like Jet Jaguar, Rodan, and Anguirus, Godzilla Singular Point swings between science fiction, Japanese mythology, and ferocious kaiju battles fans have come to expect from the Godzilla franchise!

Character design was handled by Blue Exorcist manga creator Kazue Kato, with former Studio Ghibli animator Eiji Yamamori designing the monsters.

The score composed by famed Japanese composer Kan Sawada is a lavishly produced composition full of bombastic orchestra driven cues, evoking the intense action of the kaiju terror. Electronic elements are also brought into the mix to accent the futuristic, science fiction nature of the story. Sawada utilizes a variety of instruments and voices to pay his respects to the earlier Showa era films, while creating something uniquely new and original.

Beltrami has received accolades for his music including two Academy Award nominations for Best Score: 3:10 to Yuma and for Best Picture winner The Hurt Locker. In 2011 Beltrami won a Golden Satellite Award (Best Film Score of the Year) for Soul Surfer. Beltrami scored the Marvel film Logan. He also wrote the theme for the hit video game Fortnite. Beltrami scored the critically acclaimed box-office hit A Quiet Place, which was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Score and shortlisted for Best Score for the Oscars. Beltrami won an Emmy for National Geographic’s 2019 Oscar winning documentary Free Solo, (with co-composer Brandon Roberts) for Outstanding Music Composition for a Documentary, Series or Special. Beltrami’s recent work includes Paramount Pictures’ horror sequel A Quiet Place Part II, Netflix’s horror film trilogy Fear Street (Parts 1-3).

Directed by Eli Roth (Cabin Fever, Hostel) and scored by Nathan Barr (True Blood, Cabin Fever), The House With A Clock In Its Walls is a 2018 dark fantasy film based on the 1973 novel of the same name by John Bellairs. The film follows a young boy (Owen Vacarro) who, after his parents are killed in a car accident, is sent to live with his uncle Jonathan (Jack Black) in a mysterious, old creaky house. He soon learns that his uncle is a warlock, their neighbor (Cate Blanchett) is a witch, and that the house was previously inhabited by a sinister wizard (Kyle MacLachlan).

BMI Award Winning composer Nathan Barr returns to work with Eli Roth for the dark, yet whimsical score to The House With A Clock In Its Walls. David Wingo got his start composing music for films on David Gordon Green's debut feature, George Washington, and since that time has maintained a consistent working relationship with Green, scoring the majority of his films. In 2010 he scored Jeff Nichols' Take Shelter, and has since scored all of Nichols' films, including the forthcoming Bikeriders starring Austin Butler, Tom Hardy, and Jodie Comer. Wingo has transitioned into television over the last several years, providing the score for FX’s Mayans MC, Showtime's Kidding and HBO's Emmy Award-winning Barry, for which he received an Emmy Nomination in 2019 for Outstanding Music Composition for a Series. 

ABOUT AMMAN ABBASI

Amman Abbasi is a Pakistani-American writer-director, editor, and composer from Little Rock, Arkansas. Filmmaker Magazine listed him among the 25 New Faces of Independent Film in 2016. His film Dayveon premiered at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival, was an Official Selection of the 2017 Berlin Film Festival, and went on to get two Film Independent Spirit Award nominations in 2018, including in the coveted Someone to Watch category. As a music composer, Abbasi’s compositions have appeared in several commercials, films, and documentaries, and most recently he was a music consultant for Halloween (2018) and Halloween Kills (2020). In 2008, he and his brother’s debut album, Something Like Nostalgia, topped the charts in Japan.

Released in 1984, C.H.U.D. has gained a devoted cult following amongst B-Movie Horror fans. The film is widely referenced in pop culture via The Simpsons, Archer, and most recently, Jordan Peele's Us. Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe (b.1975) is an artist, curator and composer who works primarily with, but not limited to, voice and modular synthesizer for sound in the realm of spontaneous music. Along with analog video synthesis works, he has brought forth an A/V proposal that has been a focus of live performance and installation / exhibition.

The marriage of synthesis and the voice has allowed for a heightened physicality in the way of ecstatic music, both in a live setting and recorded. The sensitivity of analogue modular synthesis echoes the organic nature of vocal expression, which in this case is meant to put forth a trancelike state. Lowe’s works on paper tend towards human relations to the natural/magical world and the repetition of motifs.
