Officially available for the very first time in any format, the soundtrack to the groundbreaking animated series is now available as a deluxe 6xLP box set, multi-disc CD set, and across all digital streaming services. In partnership with ÆON FLUX creator, artist, and director Peter Chung, composer Drew Neumann, and MTV, Waxwork Records assembled a comprehensive box set experience featuring the complete soundtrack music from all 21 ÆON FLUX episodes sourced from the composer’s original masters.

Originally airing from September 1991 through October 1995, ÆON FLUX is an avant-garde science fiction animated television series that inspired live action films, video games, and comic books. It premiered on MTV’s Liquid Television experimental animation show as a six-part serial of short films, followed in 1992 by five individual short episodes. In 1995, a season of ten half-hour episodes aired as a stand-alone series.

The original and innovative series featured elements of science fiction, allegory, dystopian and spy fiction, psychological drama, and psychedelic imagery. ÆON FLUX is set in a surreal futuristic universe. The setting comprises a bizarre dystopia populated by mutants, clones, and robots, set within the separated border wall cities of Monica and Bregna. The title character is a tall, sexy, dominatrix secret agent from the city of Monica that is skilled in espionage, assassination, and acrobatics. Her mission is to infiltrate and destroy the strongholds of the city of Bregna which is led by her sworn enemy, and sometimes lover, Trevor Goodchild.

About the Composer

The music and sound design of ÆON FLUX was created by Drew Neumann. Neumann is an American composer and musician of film and television scores. He studied film, animation, and composition at the California Institute of Arts where he first met and began a longtime friendship with Peter Chung. He has composed music for Disney, E!, Nickelodeon, MTV, Mattel, Paramount Pictures, Cartoon Network, and trailers for feature films. In addition, he has contributed sound design and music composition for a variety of hardware synthesizers, sound libraries, and software and computer products. Neumann works closely with and consults for synthesizer companies such as 1010 Music LLC, Arturia, Studio Electronics, Ensoniq, Oberheim, Sequential, UDO, Waldorf, and Moog.

About the Creator

Peter Chung is a Korean American writer and director of animated films. In addition to creating ÆON FLUX, Chung’s directing credits include The Animatrix, and the Cartoon Network feature Firebreather. He served as art director for the animated series Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and as designer and director for the Nickelodeon series Rugrats. Chung has also directed commercials for Levi’s, Pepsi, Honda, Jaguar, Sony, and many others. He currently teaches a Master Class at the Division of Animation and Digital Arts at the USC School of Cinematic Arts.

In partnership with WaterTower Music, Waxwork Records marks their second collaboration with director Lee Cronin and composer Stephen McKeon with the release of Lee Cronin’s The Mummy (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) as a deluxe double LP. The release includes two limited-edition variants, Black Scorpion-filled and Sand-filled, alongside a wide-release Blood and Sand colored vinyl.

Stephen McKeon shares:

“With Lee Cronin’s The Mummy, the challenge was to create an emotional and expressive score built on strangled breaths, fingernails scraping against the inside of a sarcophagus and eruptions of uncontrolled rage; a kind of undead demonic orchestra that would worm its way under the skin and live inside the more traditional musical element.”

They Will Kill You unleashes a blood-soaked, high-octane horror-action-comedy in which a young woman must survive the night at the Virgil Hotel, a Satanic cult’s mysterious and twisted death-trap of a lair, before becoming their next offering in a brazen, big screen battle of epic kills and wickedly dark humor.

"Working with director Kirill Sokolov on They Will Kill You pushed me completely out of my comfort zone, and I couldn't be more grateful. Early on, Kirill told me that for this movie to work, we always had to 'keep the middle finger in our pocket.’ That meant taking my initial, delicate 'ghost story' piano opening and evolving it into 'The Sisters' and 'The Immortal' themes by leaning heavily into aggressive synths. But the score became much more than a synth gig. Treating the 'Maria Reeves' theme with a mix of classical guitar and synths brought out an eclectic color I had not reached before, blending acoustic and electric guitars with orchestral elements. The challenge was on to write massive, adrenaline-fueled sequences like 'The Fight,' that could propel the hyper-violent tone of the film while protecting its genuine emotional core. It was a deeply collaborative, iterative process that made the music bolder and more badass than I could have imagined. Can't wait for you all to hear this one."

Waxwork Records is thrilled to present FORBIDDEN FRUITS (Original Motion Picture Score) by Anna Drubich. Directed by Meredith Alloway and starring Lili Reinhart, Lola Tung, Alexandra Shipp, and Victoria Pedretti, Forbidden Fruits follows Free Eden employee “Apple,” who secretly leads a witchy femme cult in the basement of the mall store after hours alongside fellow “fruits,” Cherry and Fig. When a new hire, “Pumpkin,” begins to challenge their performative sisterhood, the group is forced to confront their own poisons or succumb to a bloody fate.

The film features a standout score by award-winning composer Anna Drubich. Born in Moscow, Drubich discovered her passion for music at an early age, beginning piano studies at eight. She went on to study at the Moscow Chopin Music College and later earned her degrees from the Munich University of Performing Arts. Her diverse body of work spans over 35 major film and television projects, including Barbarian, Fear Street: 1994, and a co-score with Oscar-nominated composer Marco Beltrami (Scream) for Guillermo del Toro’s adaptation of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.

Guðnadóttir delivers a bold and emotionally charged score that blends orchestral grandeur with raw punk energy capturing the film’s sweeping romance, dangerous sensuality, and unflinching humanity.

Director, writer, and producer Maggie Gyllenhaal reflects on the creative process behind the music:

“It was hard to find the tone for the music in this movie, because it had to be both punk, not as a genre, but as a feeling and romantic. Deeply romantic and emotional, it had to be all those things. We also had to take these monsters, these iconic monsters, absolutely seriously. It’s not camp.

The tone of the music was really hard to land on. There wasn’t any temp music that worked in the language of the movie, so Hildur really had to invent it. And I think she found that mix of real punk and deep, deep romance.

We had Lee Ranaldo playing wild Sonic Youth-style guitar layered over full orchestra. We had David Murray playing saxophone alongside Fever Ray. None of those elements alone would have worked, it had to be a blend. This film is a weaving of genres and tones, and the music had to reflect that.”

Waxwork Records is thrilled to announce the double LP soundtrack release of SALEM’S LOT Original 1979 Television Soundtrack. Directed by TOBE HOOPER (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Poltergeist) and adapted from the novel by STEPHEN KING, SALEM’S LOT originally aired as a two-part miniseries on CBS in 1979. Since then, the film has reached cult-classic status and is regarded as one of the greatest vampire films ever made thanks to its creepy atmosphere, gripping story-line, and chilling climax.

Waxwork Records presents the complete, re-mastered score of SALEM’S LOT Original 1979 Television Soundtrack. Featuring all 84 musical cues from the film, this two record set clocks in at over one hour of atmospheric, old-fashioned horror film music. Composed and conducted Harry Sukman, the classic score to SALEM’S LOT was his final work before his death in 1984.
