Godzilla (70th Anniversary Edition)

Regular price $ 32.00 Save $ -32.00

*This release is a pre-order with an expected shipping date of December, 2024*

Waxwork Records is thrilled to present GODZILLA 70th Anniversary Original Motion Picture Soundtrack by composer Akira Ifukube. Released in 1954 by director Ishirô Honda, Godzilla holds the record for being the longest-running franchise in film history. Waxwork Records worked closely with Toho to create this deluxe 70th Anniversary release, featuring a re-mastered score and all-new art.

When ships begin to go missing near Odo Island off the coast of Japan, the locals look to the government for help. Paleontologist Kyohei Yamane (Takashi Shimura) is sent to investigate the situation. There, he discovers the horrors of Godzilla, who soon begins attacking the Japanese mainland. As the military’s efforts to destroy the monster continuously fail, scientist Daisuke Serizawa (Akihiko Hirata) is called upon to use his “Oxygen Destroyer” to kill the beast. Finding Godzilla in Tokyo Bay, Serzawa’s machine is used and finally, the beast is felled.

Since its release, Godzilla has continued to terrorize audiences around the world. The film has influenced countless filmmakers, with both Akira Kurosawa and Steven Speilberg citing it as one of their favorite films. The genius use of practical special effects and miniatures changed how the Japanese film industry made movies for decades. Godzilla has spawned over thirty sequel films and countless video games, comic books, toys, TV shows, and more becoming a pop culture phenomenon in the process.

The film’s score by Akira Ifukube has become an instantly recognizable piece of film music. Given only the script and a week in which to compose, Ifukube crafted a score that feels as enormous as the kaiju himself. Godzilla’s theme has become a staple of nearly all subsequent Godzilla films and was considered by Ifukube to be the greatest piece of music he had written. Using low-pitched brass and string instruments, Ifukube gives the score a massiveness and weight that complement the terror and destruction brought about by the rampaging monster. Ifukube also used a deeply resonant stringed instrument to create Godzilla’s iconic roar, a trick used to create the roar throughout the franchise.

Waxwork Records is beyond excited to present this vinyl release of Godzilla for its 70th Anniversary. Re-mastered, pressed to colored vinyl, housed in a deluxe gatefold jacket with matte satin coating, an art print, and featuring all-new artwork throughout by Robert Sammelin.

Night Of The Living Dead

Regular price $ 40.00 Save $ -40.00

*This release is a pre-order with an expected shipping date of December, 2024*

Waxwork Records is honored to present the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack to George A. Romero’s horror classic, NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD. Written, filmed, and released in 1968 by a rag tag group of Pittsburgh based misfits, NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD is an American independent horror film that follows the story of seven people trapped in a rural farmhouse that is besieged by a large and growing group of living dead ghouls. The film is regarded as a cult classic by critics, film scholars, and fans and has garnered critical acclaim. The film has been selected by the Library Of Congress for preservation in the National Film Registry and is deemed “culturally, historically, and aesthetically significant”.

Filmed and released on a shoestring budget, NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD became a smashing success earning over 250 times its budget. The film is a first of its kind and ushered in a new way of writing, directing, and filming horror films. The overused script of romantic, fantastical tales of otherworldly monsters and creatures was completely flipped and tossed aside by visionary George A. Romero. As the film’s writer and director, Romero created a new, obvious threat, and one that is universally recognizable - Our very own neighbors. Due to an unseen force beyond man’s control, the recently deceased arise from the dead in seek of living human victims. These ghouls kill and feast upon the flesh of their victims, and the only way of stopping them is by destroying their brains.

From 2015 to 2018, Waxwork Records worked closely with the remaining members of the independent production company that made NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, Image Ten, in an effort to produce a definitive soundtrack album featuring all music from the film. Much of the film’s music was thought to be lost or destroyed, but was located in its entirety and faithfully restored and re-mastered for vinyl.

NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD features the complete soundtrack for the very first time in any format, 180 gram double LP “Ghoul Green & Blue” hand pour colored vinyl, artwork by Robert Sammelin, a booklet featuring never before seen production photos, liner notes by Daniel Kraus (co-author of THE SHAPE OF WATER with Guillermo Del Toro), liner notes by Night Of The Living Dead’s dialogue recorder and sound engineer, Gary Streiner, and deluxe packaging.

In partnership with Lionsgate, Waxwork Records is thrilled to release NEVER LET GO Original Motion Picture Soundtrack by ROB. Never Let Go is a 2024 survival horror film directed by Alexandre Aja (High Tension, The Hills Have Eyes, Horns, Crawl) and starring Halle Berry, Percy Daggs IV, and Anthony B. Jenkins. The plot follows a woman credited as "Momma" and her two young children Nolan and Samuel who live in a cabin in a large remote forest. According to Momma, a supernatural force known as "The Evil" has spread across the world, causing it to end and leaving them as the only survivors. Momma is besieged by visions of supernatural entities that her sons cannot see but believe are real.

After the successful sell-out soundtrack release of the Oz Perkins (Longlegs) directed GRETEL & HANSEL, Waxwork Records is excited to team back up with composer Robin Coudet, aka ROB, on his outstanding new score to Never Let Go. ROB is a musician, author, singer, composer, and producer. In partnership with Sacred Bones Records, Waxwork Records is excited to present an exclusive variant of NOSFERATU Original Motion Picture Soundtrack by Robin Carolan.

Robin Carolan’s latest soundtrack for Robert Eggers’ highly anticipated Nosferatu is a haunting, gothic-infused and meticulously crafted work that draws from a vast palette of sounds, instruments, and inspirations. Following their successful collaboration on The Northman, Carolan reunites with Eggers to bring the legendary tale of Nosferatu to life, infusing the film with a score that is as complex and nuanced as the story itself.

With Daniel Pioro, one of Britain's most exciting young classical musicians, at the helm as the orchestra leader and first chair for a vast majority of the recording, the soundtrack features a vast orchestration, including 60 string players, a full choir, various horns and woodwinds, a harpist, and two percussionists. Despite the grandeur of the orchestration, one of the most challenging pieces was the music box used at the film's beginning. Carolan and Eggers struggled to perfect its sound, a process marked by their meticulous attention to detail, which Carolan describes as almost telepathic.

Set in the 1800s, Nosferatu allowed Carolan to incorporate contemporary instrumentation, though he made a deliberate effort to ensure the score didn't sound overly modern. Letty Stott, who also worked on The Northman, contributed ancient horns and pipes, enhancing the soundtrack’s eerie atmosphere. Additionally, percussionist Paul Clarvis custom-built a toaca-like instrument for added authenticity.

Carolan’s inspirations for the soundtrack were as eclectic as they were profound. He frequently drew upon the works of Bartok and Coil, while films like The Innocents, Angels and Insects, and Eyes Wide Shut provided cinematic inspiration. Additionally, he explored the more obscure side of Hammer Horror soundtracks and found a deep connection to the music of the Ukrainian film The Eve of Ivan Kupalo, which helped shape the score’s otherworldly tone.

Carolan intentionally moved beyond the typical horror score, focusing on capturing the tale's melancholy and tragic elements while weaving in a sense of warped romanticism. The result is a soundtrack that not only complements the film but also stands on its own as a testament to Carolan’s artistry and the enduring power of collaboration.

The Wild Robot

Regular price $ 40.00 Save $ -40.00

*This item is a pre-order with an expected shipping date in December, 2024*

In partnership with Back Lot Music, Waxwork Records is thrilled to release THE WILD ROBOT Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Music by Kris Bowers. The Wild Robot is a 2024 DreamWorks animated feature film based on the book series of the same name by Peter Brown. It stars Lupita Nyong'o as Roz, the title character, alongside an ensemble voice cast including Pedro Pascal, Mark Hamill, Catherine O'Hara, and Ving Rhames.

The epic adventure follows the journey of a robot, Roz, that is shipwrecked on an uninhabited island and must learn to adapt to the harsh surroundings, gradually building relationships with the animals on the island and becoming the adoptive parent of an orphaned gosling.

In The Wild Robot, the synergy between music and narrative achieves unparalleled heights under the craftsmanship of Oscar® winning composer Kris Bowers.

Bowers’ creative process on The Wild Robot began with early conversations with director Chris Sanders. “We spoke about the relationships and emotional themes in this story and how music might help underline and enrich the narrative,” Bowers says.

“Our conversations about parenthood, the complex dynamic between Brightbill and Roz, and Roz’s dedication to kindness as a survival mechanism, generated a clear and visceral emotional response within me, and so much of my composition process was trying to recreate the same emotional sensations. The process of composing those main themes for the score to represent the emotional landscape involved a bit of trial and error and back and forth, but once we had those themes and the palette for the score, I was able to just follow the emotional journey the story was taking me on as a viewer and respond to it with music.”

The soundtrack also features two songs performed by Maren Morris titled Kiss The Sky and Even When I'm Not.

Waxwork Records is ecstatic to release THE WILD ROBOT Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Music By Kris Bowers as a deluxe double LP featuring crystal clear vinyl with blue orb and green, mint, and black splatter housed in a heavyweight gatefold jacket with matte satin coating. Also included is a 12 page booklet with exclusive liner notes by director Chris Sanders and composer Kris Bowers alongside artwork from the film.
