Killer Klowns from Outer Space Makes Its Return!

With the newest repress of Waxwork's Killer Klowns From Outer Space so hot off the press, we thought it would be a fun idea to take a little look, closer, at the release!

Killer Klowns From Outer Space is a horror comedy from 1988. Directed by the Chiodo Brothers, the costumes are pretty killer. Chiodo Brothers are famous for their great costuming and special effects, working on the sets of Critters, Ernest Scared Stupid, and Team America: World Police. They also created the claymation for Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure and Elf. The Chiodo Brothers have become prolific and known in the movie industry for their costuming!

The score was composed by John Massari, combining his training as a classical composer with his love for contemporary music genres to create something truly unique. The score is very playful and it displays strong circus vibes, obviously, that will truly leave you feeling giddy yet terrified.

Beautifully crafted, the artwork was done by Ruiz Burgos. (You may recognize his artwork from another release of Edward Scissorhands!) Burgos was born in Granada, Spain, where he earned his degree in illustration at the School of Art of Granada.

The newest release features the Jojo the Klownzilla variant. Jojo is the main antagonist of the film. Sporting purple hair and tiny arms, he's an 18-foot parody of Godzilla. Klownzilla is the highest of authority!

Our previous releases have featured other Klown-themed variants as well like our Spikey (pink and green) and the LITA Jumbo (purple smoke and blue) releases from last year! Jumbo and Spikey are two of the main Klowns, embellished by colorful hair and fun costumes. You may recognize Jumbo as the most popular Klown, considering he's the antagonist with the most screen time! A lot of attention to detail has gone into these releases, making sure they are true to the movie.

Killer Klowns has rooted itself in cinema history as one of the world's favorite cult classics. It didn't have a big success at the box office in 1988, but gained its following when it was released on VHS. With its fun storyline, great costuming, and amazing score, there's something for everyone to love.
